Goosey Kindof Love

We went with our homeschool group to an educational farm today. They squished 400 people into their demonstration room. Calling out into their headsets, "Slide down!" "Slide down!" until I wondered if they were going to suggest sitting on each others laps.  The hay was making my skin itch and it was getting so hot I wanted to leave to go get some air, but didn't want to interrupt everyone around me. It was interesting and I learned a few things like how to make yarn.

 My favorite part was when the farmer said, "Guess what's in this box?" It was a pretty large box. He took the lid off and a goose head poked out. Everyone laughed. He spoke for a minute about how to tell the male from the female, then he said, "Do you know geese mate for life?" He continued, "Not only do they mate for life, but they rarely leave each other. When they do they squawk so they can hear each other until they come back together." Then he took out the large male goose in his arms and walked to the other side of the room near the entrance. "Do you think the goose will run out the door if I put him down? Watch." He put the goose down and it ran back towards the box that contained his love. Jumped up onto a hay bale and into the box!

 It was a box, a small prison, yet he willingly jumped into it to be with his love. The goose could teach us a thing or two about love, but what better place to learn about love than from the one who is love. God is love. 1 John 4:8b
